Theophany

As much as this is a book blog (useless to deny it at this point!), I do like to mention things that happen outside two covers. Just every so often.

Anyway, tomorrow is the feast of Theophany, for us Old Calendar Orthodox Christians. I’ll be attending Liturgy and then going down to the main river here to bless it.

I was surprised to learn this year that Orthodoxy counts Christmas/Nativity and Theophany as basically on the same level of importance. They certainly have the same cycle of services attached to them.

I like the idea of noticing the first worship of the Trinity, the first time that God in His entirety became known. I find it encouraging, especially while I’m still looking for a job and wondering where I’ll end up.
